The beautiful pendant on this necklace is Yemeni and was made in the mid-twentieth century from silver wire using a technique known as filigree. Tiny silver wires fill in set frames to make beautiful patterns. The pendant is a stylized hand of Fatima, a protective symbol. The dangles stand in for fingers. The dangles are spherical bells that make a nice tinkling noise with movement. The pendant must have had a gold gilt at one time because it has that golden hue. The pendant tests as silver, however, the accompanying handmade chain is not silver. The necklace is slip-on and is in great vintage shape.
