ProQual Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety

This two-year, competency-based qualification is delivered as a home study programme, assessed and administered by Lighthouse Safety Training Ltd. It's aimed at candidates who develop and apply health and safety procedures day to day in their organisation, and supports progression toward Technician Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH).

Course Location

This is a home study qualification – candidates complete the portfolio of evidence in their own workplace, with support and assessment from Lighthouse Safety.

Course Content

Candidates complete all five mandatory units, plus a minimum of two optional units.

Mandatory units:

• Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
• Develop procedures to safely control work operations
• Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
• Promote a culture of health and safety in the workplace
• Conduct a health and safety risk assessment of the workplace

Optional units include:

• Investigate and evaluate health and safety incidents and complaints in the workplace
• Make sure actions in the workplace aim to protect the environment
• Review health and safety procedures in the workplace
• Supervise the health, safety and welfare of a learner in the workplace

Course Duration

This is a two-year programme, completed alongside your normal working role.

Assessment

This is a competence-based qualification. Candidates build a portfolio of evidence demonstrating their competence against each unit's learning outcomes, which can include observation reports, assignments and reports, professional discussion, witness testimony, work products, worksheets, and recognition of prior learning. Assessment and internal quality assurance is carried out by Lighthouse Safety Training Ltd.

Certification

Successful candidates receive the ProQual Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety Practice, recognised toward Technician Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH).
