Product Description

12.5-inch hand-embroidered and framed geometrical artwork, embroidered in the soof style and double-mount framed. Available in three colour variants.

Soof (meaning 'neat and clean') is a style of embroidery from the Kutch region of Gujarat, and is characterized by geometric patterns. The embroidery is done from the reverse side, and involves carefully counting the warp and weft threads to create the base grid. The result is a precise and neat geometrical pattern that is often mistaken for machine work.

Soof embroidery is traditionally done by communities that migrated to India from the border areas of Pakistan, and is used in blouses, ghagras, bukanis for turbans, and doorway torans.

Comes with a hook at the back to hang on walls.
