The Staatskapelle Berlin's principal oboist, Cristina Gómez Godoy, has created a shaded sound and a melancholy expression in her famous oboe concerto Cristina Gómez Godoy was born in 1990 in Linares, Spain. She studied at the conservatories of Linares, Jaen, and Seville, at the Academy of Orchestral Studies of the Barenboim Said Foundation in Seville, and at the Rostock University of Music and Drama with Gregor Witt. As early as 2008/09, he gained orchestral experience as solo oboist of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville. In 2012, at the age of 21, he became a solo English horn player with the Staatskapelle Berlin, and in 2013 he was selected by Daniel Barenboim as a solo oboist for the Staatskapelle Berlin. Barenboim appointed him solo oboe player in 2013. Furthermore, since October 2015, she has been an adjunct professor at the Berlin University of the Arts. The natural phrasing in the second movement is particularly impressive. In R. Strass, she sings a melancholy melody with a more shadowy sound than Mozart.
