Description:
Henryk Schelling (1918-1988) is one of the most important violinists of the 20th century. Although he was highly acclaimed during his lifetime, as of 2017, he seems to have become a little less well-known than other performers of his time, such as Heifetz, Milstein, and Oistrakh, perhaps because of his overly proselytizing performances. However, his flawless technique and the beauty of his tone overwhelm others, and he is one of the great players who should be reevaluated. The performances of Vivaldi and Mozart on this album, which he also conducted himself, are completely different from the austere Bach, and the music is lively and joyful. The "Four Seasons," with its even, even tone and crisp expression, and the Mozart, with its attention to detail, are performed with great maturity. Naxos Japan
