Viewed as a “stone of courage,” dragon blood jasper is a variety of chalcedony (micro-crystalline quartz) that displays flecks and veins of red within an opaque green background. Major deposits are mined in South Africa, with some material coming from Western Australia. 

Also called Dragon Stone, Dragon Blood Stone and Dragon Jasper, this stone is steeped in myth and lore, holding a unique significance in ancient cultures. Many ancient Aboriginal tales attribute its origin to the remains of mythical dragons. In these societies, the stone's association with dragons—a symbol of power and vitality—elevates its importance.
