Saikokeishitou (柴胡桂枝湯), or Chai Hu Gui Zhi Tang, is a traditional Japanese herbal remedy that is listed in the classical Chinese medical texts Shang Han Lun (傷寒論) and Jin Kui Yao Lue (金匱要略). This formula is used in the treatment of colds in the mid-to-late stages, when symptoms include lingering mild fever, chills, and nausea. It is also effective for gastroenteritis with abdominal pain.
This granulated extract can be mixed with water for easy consumption.
Use For: Cold symptoms in the middle to late stages, along with gastrointestinal inflammation and abdominal pain.
This product contains 2.0 g of Shakuyaku-Keishi-To extract (half dose) per 2 packets (3.75 g).
Ingredients (amounts per 2 packets):
Bupleurum root (saiko) 2.5 g
Pinellia tuber (hange) 2.0 g
Scutellaria root (ougon) 1.0 g
Glycyrrhiza (kanzo / licorice) 1.0 g
Cinnamon bark (keihi) 1.0 g
Peony root (shakuyaku) 1.0 g
Jujube fruit (taiso) 1.0 g
Ginseng root (ninjin) 1.0 g
Ginger rhizome (shokyo) 0.5 g
Excipients: magnesium stearate, lactose hydrate, sucrose fatty acid ester.
Directions:
Take the following amount before meals with water or hot water:
Adults (15 years and older): 1 packet (1.875g) x 2 times per day
Children (7-15 years): 2/3 packet x 2 times per day
Children (4-7 years): 1/2 packet x 2 times per day
Children (2-4 years): 1/3 packet x 2 times per day
Children under 2 years: Do not use.
Caution:
If giving to children, supervise carefully and ensure proper dosage.
Consult a doctor if any of the following apply:

You are pregnant or suspect you may be pregnant.
You are elderly.
You have had allergic reactions to any medication in the past.
You have symptoms such as swelling.

Possible Side Effects:
Discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional if you experience any of the following:
Skin: Rash, redness, or itching.
Urinary system: Frequent urination, pain during urination, blood in urine, or a feeling of incomplete urination.
Rare but serious side effects include:
Interstitial pneumonia: Shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, persistent coughing, and fever.
Pseudoaldosteronism, myopathy: Weakness, tingling or stiffness in limbs, muscle pain that gradually worsens.
Liver dysfunction: Fever, itching, rash, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), brown urine, general fatigue, or loss of appetite.
Storage and Handling:
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Keep out of reach of children.
Once a packet is opened and not fully used, fold the top of the packet and consume within 2 days.
The color or texture of the granules may vary slightly between batches due to the use of herbal ingredients, but this does not affect efficacy.
Do not use the product past its expiration date.
