This hand knotted wool vintage blue Beni M'Guild Moroccan rug features a lozenge trellis composed of concentric diamonds, cross motifs, eight-point stars, smaller lozenges, and burdock symbols, which represents femininity, protection, and womanhood. A dash-mark style border frames the composition along the vertical sides, giving it a sense of order and definition. In Moroccan rugs, male motifs often appear on the outer portions of the composition, framing and enclosing the female motifs.
