The Orion-Tr 24/12-15 is a buck converter: it takes a higher input voltage and reduces it to a stable lower output voltage. The non-isolated variant is the correct choice when both the source and load share a common negative connection, which is standard in most vehicle and marine DC systems. If galvanic isolation between input and output is required (for example, between separate battery banks with independent grounds), the isolated version of the Orion-Tr should be used instead.
