The Victron BlueSolar MPPT 150/70-Tr is a solar charge controller designed for off-grid and battery-based solar systems. It accepts a maximum PV open-circuit voltage of 150V and delivers up to 70A of charge current, making it suited to medium and large battery banks where efficient solar harvest matters. It is aimed at professional installers, system integrators and off-grid operators who need a dependable, well-specified MPPT controller.
The BlueSolar MPPT 150/70-Tr sits in Victron's established BlueSolar range, which uses a proven MPPT algorithm to extract maximum available power from the PV array regardless of temperature or partial shading. The 150V maximum input voltage means you can wire panels in series to reduce cable losses and work with longer cable runs, which is particularly useful in larger off-grid installations where the array may be some distance from the battery bank.
The 70A output is sufficient to charge a 48V battery bank from a PV array of up to approximately 3,500W, or proportionally larger arrays at lower battery voltages. The controller automatically detects battery voltage on first connection, removing the risk of misconfiguration in the field. Charge algorithm settings, battery type and absorption/float voltages are all configurable via VE.Direct using a laptop or, with the optional Bluetooth dongle, via the VictronConnect app on a mobile device.
The Tr (screw terminal) variant is the standard wired version, intended for permanent installation in a panel, enclosure or battery room. The unit weighs 3.88kg and is built to the physical standard expected of Victron's mid-range MPPT controllers, with a metal enclosure suitable for fixed installation environments.

Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician or MCS-accredited installer familiar with DC solar systems. The PV array voltage must not exceed 150V open-circuit under any conditions, including cold-temperature Voc calculations. Ensure correct fusing on both the PV and battery connections in accordance with wiring regulations. For lithium battery compatibility, verify that the battery BMS and charge parameters are correctly configured before commissioning. This controller is not grid-connected and does not require G98 or G99 compliance, but all wiring must comply with BS 7671 and applicable local regulations.
