Instructor-Led SPA Food and Drink Passport Renewal Online

The purpose of the SPA Food & Drink Passport Renewal course is to provide updated information on health, safety, and environmental responsibilities, with a focus on risks specific to the food and drink industry. This renewal course aims to enhance your understanding of hazard recognition, risk assessment, and their implications for both individuals and employers. It also demonstrates how individual behaviour can reduce accidents.

Delivery Method

This course will be delivered online by a GSS Training trainer over Microsoft Teams. Each delegate will need access to a secure internet connection, you’ll need your own laptop or computer (the course cannot be attended via mobile phone) and you’ll need a computer/laptop camera that shows your face, upper torso and assessment table.

You do not need a Microsoft Teams account; we will send you an email with a link that will allow you to enter the course. Whilst some knowledge of how to log in via the link, how to use the camera on your computer and the mute/volume controls will be beneficial – we send you a guide on how to do this before the course.

Course Objectives

Upon completing the SPA Food and Drink Renewal course, you will be able to:

• Successfully complete each module assessment paper, demonstrating your understanding of the subjects.
• Recognise how you can personally influence high standards of health, safety, and environmental practices.
• Appreciate the value of risk assessments and know when to update a generic assessment.
• Identify common hazards associated with working in the food and drink sector.
  

Course Content

Modules include:

• A review of legislation and the risk assessment process
• Safe workplace practices and behaviours
• Types of contamination sources: chemical, physical, and microbial
• Food contamination prevention, personal hygiene, and protective clothing
• Reporting illnesses: personal and company responsibilities
• Environmental considerations: air, water, and land pollution, and anti-pollution controls
• Housekeeping: managing slips, trips, vehicles, and confined spaces
• Health hazards: handling substances, temperature extremes, hygienic design, and modifications
• Fire and explosion risks and control measures

SPA Safety Passport Issue

Upon successfully completing the renewal course, you will receive a renewed safety passport. The new SPA Food and Drink Passport is valid for three years and can be refreshed at any time during the six months before expiration.
