Product Overview

The Argodiode 80-2SC uses Schottky diodes rather than conventional silicon diodes. Schottky diodes have a lower forward voltage drop, typically around 0.3V to 0.5V versus 0.6V to 0.7V for standard types. In practice this means less voltage is lost across the isolator during charging, so battery banks receive a more complete charge. This matters particularly in 12V systems where every tenth of a volt affects the final state of charge.

The "2SC" designation indicates two output circuits from a single common input. One input connects to the alternator or charger; the two outputs connect to separate battery banks. Current flows freely from input to each output, but the diode arrangement blocks any reverse flow between the banks. A starter battery and a domestic or auxiliary battery can therefore be charged together without the risk of the auxiliary bank draining the starter battery when the engine is off.
