The addition of brown material in the form of wood chippings, bark mulch, flower stems and woody prunings assists airflow within the unit and helps to eliminate the need for turning or rotating your waste. When added to the bin, the structure of the material adds bulk to the heap and creates lots of little air pockets which allows air to circulate more freely through your HOTBIN.

As HOTBIN is a aerobic compost bin, composting bacteria are reliant on oxygen in order for them to survive and work efficiently to breakdown all of your compostables.
