Course Overview

The Safety Pass Alliance Food and Drink Renewal course is essential for anyone working with food, focusing on updating food hygiene standards to maintain a safe work environment. This renewal course refreshes delegates’ knowledge to ensure ongoing compliance with required standards.

The course covers:

• Areas of responsibility for health, safety and environment, concentrating on risks specifically found in the Food and Drink industry
• The implications of hazard recognition/risk assessment and the effects on individuals and the employer.
• How individual behaviour can help reduce accidents.

Course Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

This course is suitable for current or aspiring site managers in construction. Previous health and safety knowledge is recommended. Those without previous health and safety management experience are recommended to sit the two-day SSSTS course.

The course will be delivered in English. Delegates must be able to read, write and communicate verbally in English.

Assessment

Delegates of the SPA Food & Drink Renewal course will be evaluated using a multiple choice assessment.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, candidates will receive an SPA Food & Drink Passport valid for 3 years. It is recommended to take the renewal course 6 months before certificate expiry.

By the end of this course delegates will be able to:

• Provide basic information and areas of responsibility for health, safety and environment.
• Understand the implications of hazard recognition/risk assessment and the effects on individuals and the employer.
• Demonstrate how individual behaviour can help reduce accidents.
• Build on the basic health and safety information of Core Day programme by concentrating on risks specifically found in the Food and Drink industry.
• Understand the implications of cost to the business, job security and risk of injury/damage or loss in the areas of hygiene, health, safety and environment are not properly considered.
