This BAF Abrasive Wheels – Principles and Practice course provides a comprehensive blend of classroom-based learning and practical instruction, designed for anyone who selects, mounts or uses abrasive wheels as part of their role. Delivered over a full day by a BAF-approved instructor, the course equips delegates with the knowledge and hands-on understanding required to work safely and in line with current health and safety legislation.
The training focuses on raising awareness of the hazards associated with abrasive wheels and provides practical guidance to reduce workplace risks and prevent accidents. Delegates will gain a clear understanding of legislation such as HASWA and PUWER, alongside essential safety procedures including equipment inspection, wheel selection, mounting techniques and the correct use of personal protective equipment.
The course includes a combination of theory sessions, written assessment and practical exercises covering a range of equipment such as angle grinders, cut-off saws and bench grinders. It is suitable for operators, supervisors and managers involved in abrasive wheel use, with no formal prerequisites required.
