Hailing from the early 20th century comes this spectacular antique Art Nouveau Cross Pendant set with Australian Opals and Ruby cabochons. I’m extremely selective when it comes to the Opals I will source and these are top quality stones. With stunning hues of vibrant blue, green, pink and orange, these (x7) crystal Opals dance brightly and come alive in the sun when the light hits them. The largest center Opal measures 7mm x 12mm and tapers down to the smallest being 5mm x 7.5mm. The synthetic Ruby cabochons (x4) provide a beautiful contrast of color with their bright magenta pink hues and measure 4mm in diameter.

The cross itself is crafted from a mix of gold and silver (not plated) with the majority of metal content being silver with a small portion of gold added to create the very light gold-colored alloy. XRF testing shows this to be around 2-3ct gold so it’s not solid silver but a low karat gold alloy with the majority being silver.

Quite a substantially sized pendant measuring 44mm x 85mm (including the bail) with a total weight of 11.9 grams. The stones are in amazing condition for their age with very little surface wear and only a small chip to the back of one of the Opals. There’s some very slight crazing to a couple of them that can be seen with bright lighting from the back or examining up super close and isn’t a danger to the stability or integrity of the stone.
