This soulful take on Sangiovese comes from twenty year old vines in Osarella, near Orvieto.
The grapes were destemmed and the wine macerated on the skins for a month, before being pressed to large chestnut casks for two years of ageing.
The result is a rich, mellow expression of the grape that combines varietal notes of black cherry, herbs and balsamic to great effect.
