The Series 700 by Bowers & Wilkins consists of eight models: floorstanding speakers, bookshelf speakers, and center channel speakers, which are known for their superior sound quality and elegant design. The Series 700 incorporates many cutting-edge technologies borrowed from our flagship Series 800 Diamond, trusted by numerous renowned recording studios worldwide. This new series brings studio-quality sound into your home in the form of elegant, high-quality models that suit any preferences and interiors.
The new Series 700 continues Bowers & Wilkins' commitment to incorporating concepts and technologies inherited from its flagship product line. After an extensive three-year research program, almost every element of the new series has been transformed, from cabinet construction, drivers, and finishes to key acoustic and mechanical enhancements.
For the first time in the Series 700, slimmer cabinets with smoothly curved front panels and drivers installed in external "capsules" have been introduced in the new lineup, creating a direct visual and technical parallel with the Series 800 Diamond. This design significantly reduces the front panel's impact on sound quality, minimizing sound diffraction effects on the speaker cabinet. As a result, the new series acoustically "disappears" better than ever, allowing you to focus solely on the music without distraction from cabinet resonances.
The new cabinet shapes not only are more elegant than before but are also available in a brand-new Mocha finish, a beautiful wood with a grainy pattern that perfectly complements the updated proportions and premium details of the new Series 700 speaker cabinets. Mocha joins the previously offered Gloss Black and Satin White finishes, forming a three-component range for most markets worldwide.
Taking a significant step forward in acoustic performance, Bowers & Wilkins now offers its iconic tweeter technology in a solid housing in four models of the new Series 700, comprising half of the entire lineup.
In addition to these mechanical improvements, the tweeter dome retains the characteristics of Bowers & Wilkins' Carbon Dome model with a first resonance frequency of 47 kHz, combined with improved vented voice coils and new magnets.
In the 706 S3, patented Bowers & Wilkins technologies in the midrange drivers are utilized, including vibration decoupling for the entire midrange assembly, an aluminum driver chassis with mass-tuned dampers to reduce resonances, a fixed FST diaphragm suspension, and the famous Continuum material, delivering astonishing clarity in midrange frequencies.
The 706 S3 has also been revamped with new magnetic systems and improved chassis for cleaner sound. The driver diaphragm incorporates the latest generation Aerofoil technology from Bowers & Wilkins, based on a composite "sandwich" of materials with a carefully shaped variable profile aimed at producing cleaner, low-distortion bass.
To provide the best platform for these drivers to succeed, the new Series 700 features upgraded speaker terminals based on the Series 800, with stronger contacts more suitable for spade connectors. Audio signals are directed to meticulously upgraded crossovers, which continue to use audiophile Mundorf capacitors supplemented by multiple bypass capacitors. Heat sink radiators for the crossover have also been improved to achieve even cleaner sound.
All models in the lineup are equipped with upgraded bass-reflex ports of larger diameter, providing increased bandwidth for a more expansive and spatial sound. The 706 S3 comes with ultra-durable M6 spikes.
