A gorgeous antique early 19th century glowing garnet rivière bracelet, made in Georgian England, circa 1800-1820. 

The bracelet is crafted in 15K gold and set with a total of 6.24cts flat-cut garnets, all of which are mounted in foiled and closed-back settings, typical of the Georgian period. The bracelet is completed with a safety chain and box clasp.

Each garnet weighs approximately 0.39cts. The bracelet weighs a 8.99 grams in total and has a wearable length of 15.5cm. 

Underneath each of the garnets is a thin layer of foil; this was the most popular method of gem setting in the Georgian period as it added luminosity and made the stones appear to glow from within, which was particularly important in a period when all gemstones were mounted in closed-back settings (meaning that light could not pass through the stones to the other side, so light needed to be reflected outwards instead). This technique of gem setting was so desirable in the 18th and 19th centuries as it made the stones glow so beautifully in candlelight. However, as the stones are foil-backed, please be aware that the bracelet should not be submerged in water. 

The stones display great vibrance and brightness, a beautiful example of Georgian craftsmanship which remarkably remains in good condition despite its 200 year old history.
