About the Model
History
The T-34/76 is one of World War II's most iconic tanks, known for its revolutionary design and significant role in the Eastern Front. Introduced in 1940 by the Soviet Union, it combined mobility, firepower, and protection in a balanced package. Armed with a 76.2 mm F-34 gun and a coaxial 7.62 mm DT machine gun, it was effective against German tanks like the Panzer III and IV. Its sloped armor, with a thickness of 45 mm, enhanced its resistance to enemy fire, while its powerful V-2 diesel engine allowed a top speed of 53 km/h and an operational range of 250 km.
The T-34/76’s design innovations, such as sloped armor, wide tracks, and a low-profile turret, made it highly effective on various terrains, including snow, mud, and sand. Its ease of production and low maintenance requirements allowed for mass production, with over 35,000 units built by the end of the war. This made the T-34/76 the backbone of Soviet armored forces and a key factor in major victories, such as Stalingrad and Kursk. The T-34's legacy as a symbol of Soviet military power endures, with its technological innovations continuing to influence tank design and strategy.
