A lovely estate ring - by renowned reproductionists RE Morrish - inspired by the early 20th century Edwardian suffragette jewelry. The green, white, and violet combination was readily recognizable as the colours of the movement that sought to secure voting rights for women (though, as we are well aware, the movement had many flaws, chief among them the explicit exclusion of Black women). Jewelry combining these colours (typically using peridot and amethyst as here, and with pearl or diamond representing white) was worn as a show of allegiance with the cause, and to help suffragettes identify one another. The green was meant to represent hope, while white and violet were for purity and dignity respectively - and a (likely retroactive) mnemonic device can help you remember the trio - G(reen), W(hite), V(iolet): G(ive) W(omen) the V(ote).

Very good estate condition with very minor wear to stones and gold. All stones are secure in their settings.
