Applications and functionalities

This Adapter cable is designed for workshops working on mixed vehicle fleets and offers the following core features:

• Voltage reduction (Step-down): Converts the incoming 24V power from pin 16 of the vehicle connector to a safe 12V output. This makes it possible to use standard passenger car diagnostic equipment on trucks and heavy machinery.
• Pass-through communication: Allows all data lines (such as CAN-High, CAN-Low, and K-line) to pass through unhindered and unchanged. The Adapter only intervenes on the power and ground lines.
• Live circuit monitoring: Allows the technician to verify during the diagnostic process whether the vehicle’s OBD port provides stable power, which is crucial when troubleshooting communication errors or ECU issues.

Special features and capabilities

The integrated module in the wiring contains additional hardware components to enhance diagnostic reliability:

• Digital Voltmeter (Red LED): Continuously measures the reduced output voltage sent to the diagnostic device, making voltage drops immediately visible.
• Digital Ammeter (Blue LED): Displays the current power consumption of the connected diagnostic device or interface in amperes. This helps identify unexpectedly high current draw caused by a fault in the tester or cable.
• Integrated shock protection: The transformer housing is finished with shock-absorbing caps, protecting the sensitive measurement electronics from drops on the workshop floor.
