This is a vigorous, rounded, deciduous shrub with broadly ovate, toothed, veined, bright to mid-green leaves and, from midsummer into autumn in neutral or alkaline soil, large heads of creamy-white flowers turning pink with age. Flowers are mid-blue in acid soils. Best grown in sun or partial shade in a moist yet well drained soil.

• When planting this shrub in the open ground it is best planted with a mixture of your garden soil and a good quality Tree and Shrub Compost. If suitable for containers then we recommend John Innes No3 Compost or a good quality Multipurpose compost. These plants should be fed in Spring and late Summer with a good quality granular fertiliser.
