Exceptional Victorian drawstring purse- suitable for mourning as the entire thing is beaded with jet. This is real jet, rather than “French jet” which is a term that just means black glass. You will be amazed how lightweight these beads are. The purse is unlined but in excellent condition: No holes, chips, or discoloration observed. Good enough for gentle use. In all my years collecting Victorian mourning, I’ve never come across another purse so heavily beaded with real jet. That said, it’s been sitting in a trunk for many years, so I am ready to find it an appreciative new home.
