Please Note: As the studio hasn't made this model of teapot using lipini clay yet, the photos of the teapot show the model in huangjin duan clay instead. The finished teapot will be the same shape and size but using lipini clay. Photos of lipini clay are included above from our previous batch of Lipini teapots commissioned in Fall of 2019.

Capacity: approximately 150ml

This teapot is made from original ore Lipini 梨皮泥, a very rare kind of lüni mined together with Tian Qing Ni. Because of the very small amount of clay available, the studio produces only a very limited number once a year. This ore is quite grainy, breathable, and balances with the softness of the clay to give the clay a great depth and character.

This pot is known as "half-handmade" as the sculptor uses a molding tool to shape the body, and uses his hands for the handle, spout, holes, and smoothing out the body. In fact, no machine was used in it's shaping as the use of the tool is entirely manual.

Preparation Before Use

Yixing Teapots should be prepared before using the first time. This is called "opening the pot". It removes the dust from firing the teapot.

We recommend rinsing the teapot under warm water two or three times, then filling the teapot with boiling water and emptying it out two to three times. After this the teapot is ready for use.
