I realize it would be good, at least with some things, to include other objects in photos for scale--which would be helpful in the case of this large whimsy, which feels more like modernist design object than whimsy carving. I would guess mid-20th century, with clean lines and substantial presence. There are some hatch marks on the ball, including what almost looks like a carved KH, as if it were meant for me to find it!:)

6 3/16" tall x 2 3/16" wide and deep, and in very good vintage condition.
