Jacobo Potosme celebrates maternal love and protection in this minimalist piece. He sculpts an abstract mother and child form in terracotta and colors them in a deep teal using natural pigments from pulverized rocks. Each side of the piece is decorated by two panels with geometric designs. The artist signs his work as Jacobo Potosme – Nicaragua

Potosme learned to work ceramic from his mother and his uncle. His art has helped him forge a path in life for himself and has aided him in a years-long battle with alcoholism. Working with earth makes him feel as if he can create something out of nothing.
