This 5 Paras stamp from the Ottoman Empire, issued in 1913, features a detailed engraving of the Maiden’s Tower (Kız Kulesi) in Istanbul, with the city skyline in the background. Printed in orange, the stamp carries the inscription “Postes Ottomanes” in French along with Ottoman Turkish script, reflecting the empire’s multicultural character at the time. The design also includes the imperial tughra (calligraphic emblem of the Sultan) and the crescent with a star, both significant state symbols. As part of the “Views of Constantinople” series, this issue highlighted the grandeur of the empire’s capital. Today, it is a prized collectible among Ottoman philately enthusiasts, particularly in well-preserved condition.
