An interesting piece this, with the "broken gun" LF Lefaucheux Makers Mark along with the trigger guard stamped "INVre E LEFAUCHEUX BREVETE ???? (PARIS).
So clearly a Eugene Lefauxcheux revolver, but with clear engraving to the top of the barrel "AGOSTINO MARELLI IN MILANO".
A quick search for Agastino is, well, confusing with a couple of posts referring to him as a very famous Italian Gunmaker, but elsewhere there is nothing. Was he this famous maker, or perhaps an upmarket retailer in Milan?
Back to the pistol, the frame and cylinder are florally engraved and the round barrel is engraved as previously mentioned.
The metalwork is in good condition, having a smooth dark grey patina with no pitting.
This one is double action only with a spurless hammer and it is crisp in operation.
The lacquered (or stained) two piece grip is also in fine condition, with no shrinkage or damage, although the lacquer has rubbed off in several areas.
A very attractive piece with an unusually long barrel, given its overall size.
Barrel length 15.5cm, Overall length 25cm.
This antique pistol is considered obsolete and non functioning, and is sold as a collectable ornamental item. This product is available for purchase in the UK without a license
