I've got a special love for hand-drawn maps of many sorts (even more so now, as paper maps have become a relic of the pre-digital/pre-GPS age), and this is a lovely one, red and black ink and watercolor. A fairly early one as far as American schoolwork maps go, and pretty rare that I see one devoted to a single state. (If only I had for each of the 31 states that existed in 1857, when William Donaldson drew and signed this!) I do have Ohio, though, listed separately, dated 1857. This one notes that William attended St. Louis Central High School--and so perhaps it was only mid-western states that he mapped. A perfect gift for an Arkansas--or Arkansawyer--I'd say!
8 1/2 X 5 1/4. Good condition, bolder in hand, with a small split to the paper along the fold line at bottom. I will mend with archival tape (removable) from reverse to shore up before shipping.
