This is not antique, but it is a very fine quality vintage French taleidoscope--a taleidscope is like a kaleidoscope but with an open-ended view; rather than holding colorful bits inside, whatever one points it at is transformed into kaleidoscopic pattern. Which is really much more exciting! Brushed steel I believe, brass and glass, with substantial weight, very sturdy and built to last. And housed in a lovely and sturdy and very French feeling lidded cardboard tube. 

Sleeve, just larger than kaleidoscope, measures 13 1/2" x 2" d. Excellent condition.
