A very fine Crescent Ware porcelain eight place tea set, finely decorated with gold over royal purple ground, retailed by Phillips of New Bond Street, London. England, circa 1908–1920.
A rare and very decorative colour combination, together with elegant, Regency era shape, make this set a fabulous specimen.
Phillips were London retailers of china and glass ware - their advertisements state that they were established in 1760. The firm was recorded trading at 43-44 New Bond Street in 1908-1929.
The set includes eight tea cups with saucers, a cream jug with saucer, a cake plate and a pudding plate with dome cover. Excellent condition with minor rubbing to gold on the creamer and occasional small marks on the purple ground on all plates and dome cover.
