The Hunter® PGV-100-G-S is the slip-socket version of Hunter’s workhorse 1 in. PGV irrigation valve — same screw-top body, same double-beaded diaphragm, same encapsulated solenoid that’s saved Hunter’s reputation in the field for decades. The “G” means globe configuration (vertical flow), the “S” means slip socket inlet and outlet for direct PVC solvent welding. Install Notes

Plumbing: Both inlet and outlet are 1 in. slip sockets sized for schedule 40 PVC. Dry-fit the line first, mark the flow direction (arrow on the body), apply PVC primer to both fitting and pipe, then cement — full 1/4 turn at assembly. Honor the flow arrow; reversing the valve causes erratic open/close behavior.

Mounting: Drop into a standard 6 in. or 10 in. round / 12 in. or 14 in. rectangular valve box on washed gravel base. Wire leads from the solenoid go up to the controller via waterproof connectors (DBR/Y, DBY/B, or equivalent silicone-filled splice nuts).

Wiring: Two 18 AWG leads from the solenoid to the controller — one to the station (1 through 6 / 23 / 32 depending on controller), one to the C (common) terminal. Polarity does not matter on a standard 24 VAC AC solenoid. For a DC-latching solenoid setup (battery-powered controller), step up to the PGV-100-G-S-DC variant.

Manual bleed for commissioning: rotate the solenoid 1/4 turn counterclockwise to open the valve, flush the lateral, then rotate clockwise to close. Or use the internal bleed screw (top of bonnet) for a controlled trickle that doesn’t mist the valve box.
