This beautiful French semi-postal stamp features Rosalie Fragonard, inspired by the work of the Rococo painter Jean-Honoré Fragonard. Originally issued as a Red Cross charity stamp, it was later overprinted for use in French West Africa with the new value 10 + 5 CFA, replacing the earlier 0.20 + 0.10 F denomination. The design, engraved by J. Piel, depicts a delicate feminine portrait rendered in rich reddish-brown tones with the iconic red cross emblem.
