I like an antique tintype portrait that feels maybe occupational but if so that occupation if rather elusive. Maybe it was just raining and this guy didn't want to let go of his boots. Or put out his cigar, either! I like the way he holds them loosely at his side, one finger looped through the top of each, his other hand in his pocket. Some swagger to the way he holds himself, while also looking a bit cross-eyed too. And then a partial view of this lonely half-column at far right, looking like a prop with no purpose.
Half plate tintype, 7" x 4 15/16".Some scratches visible near his chin/across his bowtie and scattered around, and a few bend in the plate near the bottom center, feeling all of a piece with it. Hand-tinted pink cheeks.
