Effects of this medicine
This medicine has antacid effect to suppress gastric acid. It also increases intestinal osmotic pressure to gather water from intestine wall, softens/expands intestinal content and gives dilative stimulation to the intestine, consequently promotes defecation.
It is usually used for the antacid and improvement of the following symptoms in gastric/duodenal ulcer, gastritis, upper gastrointestinal dysfunction and for constipation and preventing calcium oxalate urolithiasis development.
Dosing schedule (How to take this medicine)
・Gastric/duodenal ulcer, gastritis, upper gastrointestinal dysfunction: In general, for adults take 0.5 to 1.0 g of the active ingredient daily in several divided doses.
Constipation: In general, for adults take 2 g of the active ingredient daily in three divided doses before or after meals, or once at bedtime.
Prevention of calcium oxalate urolithiasis development: In general, for adults take 0.2 to 0.6 g of the active ingredient daily with ample water.
In any case, the dosage may be adjusted according to disease, age and symptoms of the patients. This preparation contains 250 mg of the active ingredient in each tablet. Strictly follow the instructions.
・If you miss a dose, do not take the missed dose and follow your regular dosing schedule. You should never take two doses at one time.
Before using this medicine, be sure to tell your doctor and pharmacist
・If you have previously experienced any allergic reactions (itch, rash, etc.) by any medicines.
If you have renal impairment, cardiac dysfunction, diarrhea or hypermagnesemia.
・If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
・If you are taking any other medicinal products. (Some medicines may interact to enhance or diminish medicinal effects. Beware of over-the-counter medicines and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.)
Precautions while taking this medicine
・This medicine may cause hypercalcemia due to increasing renal reabsorption of calcium. DO NOT drink large amounts of milk while taking this medicine.
