Get the waterproofing right the first time, every time, beneath your tiles. Everflex WPM provides the permanent flexibility and durability required to secure all internal and external wet areas. This compliant, self-reinforced, elastomeric membrane creates a seamless, fully bonded barrier that won't re-emulsify. Install it with confidence, knowing the finished surface will remain protected for the long term.

Why this product exists

Everflex WPM was formulated as a premium-grade, self-reinforced elastomeric membrane to meet rigorous Class 3 waterproofing specifications for under-tile applications. Its design ensures high permanent flexibility, durability, and a fully bonded, seamless barrier that maintains integrity even when immersed. This means peace of mind for you, knowing the membrane beneath your tiles won't fail when exposed to water.

The numbers that matter

  • Class III Elongation (391% per AS4858): This high elasticity means Everflex WPM can accommodate significant substrate movement without cracking. It provides a robust safety margin, preventing membrane failure under thermal cycling or minor structural shifts in your wet areas, balconies, or roof decks.
  • Water Absorption (0.75% per AS3558.1): This low absorption rate ensures the membrane itself resists water ingress, maintaining its barrier integrity. It prevents saturation and degradation, ensuring long-term performance even in constantly wet environments.
  • VOC (<1gm/lt): Meeting Green Star environmental criteria, this ultra-low VOC content means better indoor air quality on your projects. It's a non-toxic choice that contributes to a healthier environment for installers and occupants, without compromising performance.
  • Durability (Passes Deionised Water, Bleach, Detergent & Heat Aged tests): Everflex WPM is built to withstand common chemical exposures found in wet areas and resist aging. This ensures the membrane remains effective and compliant over its service life, protecting against failures caused by cleaning products or temperature extremes.

What it's like to use

Everflex WPM is a single-component, ready-to-use liquid membrane. Mix it thoroughly before application. Apply with a brush or roller in two coats. The first coat should achieve approximately 0.75mm wet film thickness, followed by a second coat applied at right angles to the first, also at 0.75mm wet film thickness. Verify the wet film thickness with a film gauge to ensure compliance. Recoat times are typically 2-4 hours after touch-dry, allowing for rapid job completion. For internal applications, prime with Everflex WBP. For external areas like roof decks, use Everflex VBS. While wet, clean tools and spills easily with water.

Where this product excels

  • Wet areas — bathrooms, showers, laundries, kitchens: Everflex WPM is consistently specified as the primary waterproofing membrane in residential and commercial wet areas. Its Class 3 flexibility and seamless application create a robust barrier beneath your tiles, preventing water ingress and protecting structural elements.
  • Balconies, podiums, door/window reveals, flashings: For external spaces that demand high performance, Everflex WPM serves as the critical membrane. It accommodates the movement associated with outdoor conditions, ensuring your tiled balconies and podiums remain watertight.
  • Roofing — concrete roofs, membrane-covered tiled: This product is a reliable choice for waterproof membranes on concrete roofs designed for tiling. Its durable, non-re-emulsifying properties provide a long-lasting solution, protecting the building structure below.

How it fits in a real system

Everflex WPM is applied as the primary waterproof membrane in a multi-stage system, typically after substrate preparation and priming. You will prime porous or warm surfaces with a compatible primer, such as Everflex WBP for internal use, or Everflex VBS for external applications like roof decks and balconies. Once the primer is touch-dry, Everflex WPM is applied in two coats to achieve the required dry film thickness. For critical areas like waste outlets, penetrations, and corners, Adheseal PU or Hi-Flex MS sealants are used to fill gaps and perimeters. Adheseal Elastoband or Butyl Tape systems are recommended for dynamic cracks and expansion joints, as the membrane itself cannot span these larger movements. Once cured, Everflex WPM is compatible with a wide range of solvent-free tile adhesives, including RLA C-Lite and Gripset Unigrip, ready for your final tile finish.

Choose this when

  • When you require a premium-grade, compliant Class 3 waterproofing membrane for under-tile applications in all internal and external wet areas, including showers, laundries, and balconies.
  • When the project demands a highly flexible, durable, and fully bonded seamless barrier that will not re-emulsify when immersed in water.
  • When working with common building substrates including concrete, screeds, masonry, cement sheeting, or timber flooring, requiring NCC, AS4858, and AS4654.1 compliance.
  • When a single-component, low VOC, water-based solution with easy cleanup and rapid drying for earlier tiling is preferred.

Don't use this when

  • Not for: Long-term UV exposure without protection. Everflex WPM has limited UV resistance and must be tiled or topped for protection, unlike dedicated exposed membranes such as Everflex WPUV UV-Stable Waterproofing Membrane.
  • Not for: Areas subject to negative hydrostatic pressure or rising damp. This membrane is designed for positive side waterproofing.
  • Not for: Application on damp, wet, or contaminated substrates, or when temperatures are outside the 10°C to 35°C range. Adhesion will be compromised.
  • Not for: Spanning dynamic cracks or expansion joints. Everflex WPM cannot span gaps and requires specific joint systems like Adheseal Elastoband or Butyl Tape.

Everflex WPM is tested in accordance with the National Construction Code (NCC) to AS-4858:2004 and AS4654.1 standards. This compliance ensures its suitability and performance for both internal and external under-tile applications, providing you with confidence in meeting regulatory requirements.
