I wouldn't have predicted one of my favorite finds ever would be a dirty old sock, but what a sock this is! Darned and darned and darned some more, heel, toe, top, bottom, and up the back pure darning terminating in a point that makes the whole think look a little like a Jack-in-the-Pulpit.  What a wonder, and about as pure an embodiment of endurance, and resilience, and labor born of necessity as one could imagine.  Though not the least bit religious, I have to think God bless the child whose sock this was. Intensively physical, completely symbolic, amazing.

6 3/4” heel to toe, 3 3/8” wide. Soiled and darned to death but not at all delicate and holding together most incredibly.
