A curious one, with a beautiful etherealness about it, as the boats, and boaters, seem to dissolve into the ripples of the water. Studying it closely, I believe it captures the same set of canoers twice, once from both sides, first heading one direction, and then back the other. (Look closely at the three man boat--those have to be the same three figures as in the other three man, just photographed from opposite view, no?) With both negatives taken in the same spot, but the alignment in their overlay in printing just off, so there is a slight doubling of the trees and shrubs on shore behind them.  At least that's what I think! All very dreamlike in effect, a bit like canoeing in a quiet spot feels. By J.A.
