A fine 19th century French Louis XVI style bureau plat handcrafted of solid walnut by talented artisans in Lyon for the wealthy owner of a maison de maître, having gilt bronze pulls and the original black tooled leather writing surface, circa 1850s. Writing slides withdraw from either side of this handsome desk to enlarge the surface when necessary. A single central drawer is flanked by a smaller drawer on each side. Raised on fluted, tapered legs. Fully finished on all sides with a fresh French polish that allows the beautiful aged patina to shine. This neoclassical writing table works with traditional or modern decor and can float in any room.
