The poems in Serendipity are neatly divided into five parts: Wistful nostalgia, her, Finding myself, affection in secret, and Bliss. The subjugation of women in a patriarchal society has been depicted very well and the continual issue of objectifying women’s body is well depicted. self-love and self- acceptance of one’s own body, especially when it comes to women, is of primary significance and the poet has beautifully represented this very subject matter. Thereon, the narrative shifts to the inner self of the poet, an expression of the deepest sentiments every individual can connect with; of dreams, of hardships of life, of finding beauty despite all despondency, of hope, of finding peace and comfort in nature.

Elongshila Jamir’s first foray into the realm of poetry as a published poet is a celebration of discovery, self-acknowledgment and acceptance, inspiration, faith and finding the light and voice.
Serendipity captures the promise of a budding poet whose art is simple yet unafraid, raw yet potent; poetry that resonates with us and assures us that her voice will be one to be reckoned with.
more power to you Elongshila Jamir, and may your poetry continue to enrich us.
