The Hazard 4 Second Front is a 20.1-liter daypack built around a single defining feature: it rotates from your back to your chest on the fly. Drawn from the same design DNA as the Sidewinder sling pack, the Second Front scales that concept into a full two-strap daypack — wide enough to carry a padded 15-inch laptop, organized enough to serve as a field office, and nimble enough to swing to your chest for on-the-go access without ever setting the bag down. The shell is constructed from Cordura military-grade Nylon 6,6 fabric with a double PU water-repellent coating. It weighs 3.2 lbs. (1.5 kg) and measures approximately 18" L x 11" W x 6.2" D. Available in Coyote and Black.
The core utility of the Second Front is the front-to-back rotation. Pull the bag to your chest and the main compartment faces you — ideal for vehicle interiors, ski lifts, crowded transit, or any situation where keeping the bag in your line of sight matters. The large grab handles on the bag frame this maneuver: you can rotate quickly without fumbling with buckles. In back position, the thermoformed back panel maintains pack shape and provides air ventilation against the spine. The ergonomically cut shoulder straps use 3D air-mesh on the underside for all-day comfort.
The Second Front runs MOLLE-compatible webbing across the front and sides, with additional modular webbing on the side panels for expansion pouches, phone carriers, and magazine storage. Double grommets support the HardPoint series of accessories. The front panel includes molle cutouts alongside a drop-down fast-access gear organizer that functions as a work surface and includes an iPad-sized tablet window. The main compartment interior is lined in fuzzy loop material for attaching dividers, patches, or compatible hook-backed holsters and accessories.
The hydration back-pocket accommodates bladders up to 100 oz. (3L) and includes a trap-door port for the hydration hose — no sharp hook-and-loop edges on the hose exit. The hydration pocket also includes a fuzzy loop panel for attaching an optional hook-backed modular pistol or magazine holster covertly inside the bag.
The dedicated laptop compartment measures approximately 17.4" L x 10.5" W x 0.8" D with padded retention and fits most 15-inch laptops. If your laptop exceeds the compartment depth, the main compartment floor accepts the Hazard 4 Cartridge padded laptop sleeve insert, which clips securely to the internal loops. The main compartment itself measures 17.7" L x 10.5" W x 6" D — enough volume to serve as the primary carry space for a sleeve-protected laptop plus accessories.
The main compartment fits folding-stock rifles and submachine guns with short barrels — H&K G36C and UMP are cited examples. Side flat-pockets accept paddle holsters and rifle magazines. The MOLLE front and sides accommodate holster and magazine pouches at hand's reach. The hydration pocket fuzzy loop panel supports covert attachment of an optional hook-backed pistol or magazine holster inside the bag body.
The shell is Cordura Nylon 6,6 fabric, double PU water-repellent coated. All zippers are YKK with silent paracord pullers that work with gloves and don't produce reflective flash. Compression straps run the exterior and double as retention for tubular items. The waist belt uses a large locking buckle for rapid drop and is included as a removable component. A sternum strap is also included. The bag includes a 3D Hazard 4 logo in subdued Black or Coyote finish depending on colorway.
Do not machine-wash or machine-dry. Empty all pockets and shake out debris. Soak in lukewarm water with mild detergent for 10–15 minutes and agitate vigorously. Use a clean cloth or sponge for general cleaning; use a soft brush such as a toothbrush for zipper teeth and corners. Rinse thoroughly. Dry metal parts completely as quickly as possible. Apply a zipper-specific lubricant to improve slide action. Turn the pack inside out and hang to dry in shade. Keep away from direct sunlight — UV exposure degrades and discolors the fabric.
The shoulder straps and sternum strap are designed to allow the entire pack to swing from your back to your chest in a single motion without removing either strap. The large grab handles frame the maneuver. Once on your chest, the main compartment faces you for full access. Swing it back when you're done. No unbuckling required.
The laptop compartment fits most 15-inch laptops. The interior measures approximately 17.4" L x 10.5" W x 0.8" D. If your machine exceeds the sleeve depth, the main compartment floor accepts the separately available Hazard 4 Cartridge padded laptop sleeve, which clips to internal loops.
Yes. The waist belt is removable and ships included with the pack. It uses a large locking buckle designed for rapid drop. A sternum strap is also included.
Yes. The dedicated hydration back-pocket fits bladders up to 100 oz. (3L). A trap-door port routes the hydration hose out of the pack without sharp hook-and-loop edges against the hose.
The front panel and side panels run MOLLE-compatible webbing. The front also has molle cutouts and double grommets for the HardPoint accessory series. Standard MOLLE pouches, phone carriers, holsters, and magazine pouches all attach. The internal fuzzy loop lining accepts hook-backed accessories including compatible Hazard 4 holsters.
It is not a direct replacement — it is the two-strap backpack version of the Sidewinder concept. The Sidewinder is a single-strap sling pack. The Second Front carries more volume (20.1 L) on two shoulder straps and still rotates to the chest. If you want the Sidewinder's front-access feature but need both-shoulder carry and more capacity, the Second Front is the direct upgrade path.
