Description: Osuzu Gin (Osuzuyama Distillery) is a striking Japanese craft gin rooted in the distillery’s shochu heritage. Using a base spirit derived from their own Yamaneko sweet potato shochu, it’s distilled with botanicals like juniper, sansho pepper, kumquat, yuzu, hyuganatsu (a local citrus), sakaki wood, ginger, and shiitake mushrooms—most of which are estate-grown or locally sourced. It opens with bright citrus and yuzu on the nose, then unfolds into a bold yet balanced palate of woodsy sakaki, spicy sansho, umami depth, and forest herb character. At 45% ABV, the finish lingers elegantly with citrus peel, soft juniper, spice, and a subtle earthy wood echo.
