Rare Repertoire & Treasures from the Vaughan Williams Society's own label, RVW! The Vaughan Williams Society's own label, Albion Records, has been featuring unknown, buried, and unpublished works by Rafe Vaughan Williams. This is the world premiere recording of "The Garden of Proserpine," a work for soprano solo voice, chorus and full orchestra taken from a collection of poems and ballads (1866) by Victorian English poet Algernon Charles Swinburne (1837-1909). Fen and Flood, composed by English composer Patrick Hadley (1899-1973), who studied composition with Vaughan Williams and was a friend of his, is a memorial cantata to the hurricane damage that devastated the Netherlands, Belgium, and England in 1953. Arranged by Vaughan Williams into a substantial work including mixed chorus, this is also a world premiere recording. Tokyo M-Plus
