Cantica Sinfonia is an Italian ensemble of vocal and instrumental musicians directed by tenor Giuseppe Malletto, a core member of "La Venexiana" and "La Compagnia del Madrigale". Cantica Sinfonia is the first Italian ensemble to release a new album since the 2009 release of the Bünoy (GCD P31906), which features a recording by Guillaume Dufay, a master of the Burgundian school of music who lived through the transition from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, and who pioneered and transformed the music of the Renaissance. (c.1397-1474). The four-voice circular mass "Missa la fasse et pal" with Dufay's own chanson "S la fasse et pal" as the prescribed melody is said to be the oldest mass with a secular tune as the prescribed melody. The four-voice circular mass "Missa l'armée", with the fixed melody of the folk song "l'armée (The Armed Man)", whose composer is unknown, is the earliest among the "Missa l'armée" composed by many composers.
