During the stillness of the COVID lockdowns in 2021, the world outside shrank to a few small places. For many, the local playground became a rare escape, a symbol of freedom and hope amidst uncertainty. "It's Rainy but That's Okay" was born from these fleeting outings, where even the rain felt like a welcome touch of life when the walls of confinement grew too close.
Part of the abstract series "Playgrounds," this piece embodies the mixed emotions that surfaced during the pandemic. The playground, once a carefree space, now held a new weight—a place where masked faces and cautious steps contrasted with the joy of play. It became a metaphor for the way life had changed, a reminder that even in dark times, we found new perspectives on the world around us.
Through the abstract forms and colors, this artwork reflects the strange beauty of that moment in time—the unpredictability of life, the shared fear, and the subtle acceptance that, despite it all, things would be okay. Rainy days didn’t feel quite as gloomy anymore. They became part of a rhythm that reminded us we could still find joy, even in the smallest spaces.
