Dexter Gordon
Description:
DADDY PLAYS THE HORN", a masterpiece released in the 1950s by Dexter Gordon, one of the leading tenor saxophonists in modern jazz, is now reissued in analog format! Dexter Gordon is one of the most famous tenor saxophonists in modern jazz. He emerged on the scene in the 1940s at the height of the bebop era, recording some of his best performances for Savoy Records and Dial Records, but in the 1950s, he was in and out of jail and drug rehabilitation facilities due to the drug epidemic, and his career slowed down. The few works he recorded during the 1950s were released on Bethlehem's "Daddy Plays the Horn" in 1955. This album, which includes such masterpieces as "Autumn in New York" and "Confirmation," has a different West Coast flavor from the Bippup era, and the leisurely saxophone playing by Kenny Drew (p) and the sidemen backing him is also a wonderful masterpiece. This is a wonderful masterpiece.Dexter Gordon later made a stunning comeback with Blue Note in the 1960s, but this masterpiece, which captures one of his few performances from the 1950s, will be reissued in analog with remastered sound in 2012.
