The first collection of Mozart's (1756-1791) symphonies, arranged for chamber music by Hummel (1778-1837), has been well received by the audience for its mobility and tight ensemble. The first collection (Nos. 38-40...8.572841) was well received by the audience for its high mobility and close ensemble, and now we can hear even fuller music from these four virtuosos. The smaller size of the ensemble makes it possible to clearly understand the structure of the music and Mozart's beliefs. These arrangements were made around 1823-1824, when Hummel was working as court music director in Weimar, and are a profound tribute to Mozart, his childhood teacher. Hummel left more than 50 works for piano, flute, violin, and cello, but unfortunately only six symphonic arrangements of Mozart's works in all. He also took into account the changing times, adding crescendos and pianissimos not found in Mozart's score, as well as changing the ornamentation and other details.There are some differences from the current score, such as the addition of a measure in Symphony No. 40, which may cause confusion, but this area will eventually be scrutinized by researchers.
