This Gudaar Patti Table Runner is woven on a narrow pit-loom in North Karnataka, using cotton warp and jute weft, a combination that produces a fabric that is both lightweight and remarkably durable. Gudaar Patti is one of the rarest surviving textile traditions in Karnataka. Now, we have reimagined it as a runner for the urban table. Two sides carry the loom's natural selvedge, and the other two finish with a fringed eyelash edge secured by stitches. It handles daily use, washes well, and grows more characterful over time. Owning one of these is a practical choice that also quietly sustains a craft tradition.
Size 1: 14" x 48", ideal for a two-chair table.
Size 2: 14" x 60", ideal for a four-chair table.
Size 3: 14" x 78", ideal for a six-chair table.
Size 4: 14" x 90", ideal for an eight-chair table.

In the past, "Gudaar Patti," a traditional small-width strip of fabric, was woven, and women in households would join them together using "Katri Holige" (Scissor Stitch) to create a larger piece of cloth. The resulting textile was so durable that it was used to cover bullock carts for shade and to shelter harvested food grains stored outside. All of this changed with the advent of plastic cement covers!
Spot clean with a damp cloth for everyday use. If a full wash is needed, hand-wash gently in cold water with mild soap, and lay flat in the shade to dry.
