Misia (Fado)
Description:
Migia Migia, who emerged on the fado scene in the 1990s as one of the successors to Amalia Rodriguez (1920-99) and has released many albums in Japan, has produced a very ambitious and progressive fado album. She has released a number of albums in Japan, and has created an ambitious and progressive fado album. Migia (real name: Susana Maria Alfonso de Aguiar) was born in 1955 in Porto, a city in northern Portugal, but moved to Spain after the Carnation Revolution in 1974. It was there that she began singing and took up fado, the representative song music of her native country. She returned to Portugal in the 1990s, when the activities of Amalia, the queen of Fado, were declining, and she began to attract attention as one of the "post-Amalia" singers, releasing her debut album "Misia" in 1991. She released her debut album "Misia" in 1991, and has been releasing albums consistently since then, gaining great popularity here in Japan, where her works have been introduced by major labels such as WEA and BGM.It has been four years since the release of "Para Amalia" in 2015, which featured guest artists such as Maria Betânia, and this new album is being distributed in Japan on a disc licensed by the Galileo label in the Netherlands. The album is an ambitious work that embodies Migia's unique view of fado as a musician who has reached maturity as a musician. In addition, there are arrangements with piano and violin accompaniment, as well as arrangements that sometimes feature violently distorted electric guitars, which can even be considered quite aggressive. The works featured here include Migia's own compositions as well as masterpieces of fado composed by Amalia, the Eternal Queen, and the legendary guitara player Armandinho, and also Piazzolla's numbers. The program also includes Daniel Meringo, a male singer who represents the current state of tango, a music that has been popular since ancient times, as well as fado; Referee, a musician and guitarist from Barcelona, known recently as the producer of Louisa Sobral; and Ricardo Ribeiro, a male singer who represents the current fado scene, The program also features a wide variety of guest musicians, including Referee, a Barcelona musician/guitarist who is also known as the producer of Louisa Sobral. While the revival of traditional Fado is being promoted by younger musicians, Migia's progressive Fado is trying to find connections with various genres. We hope you will enjoy this album.
